This UNREAD book is in NEAR PERFECT condition with no markings inside or out and no attached bookplates. There are no real imperfections to speak of and no discernable wear. It looks and feels unread. It's as solid and tight as a brick. Perhaps the only imperfection you could site is VERY minor spots to the top edge of the text block. But these are almost non-existent.

I love this novel, this translation of it, and this edition. I have one for myself that I would never sell. I've even read this novel in 3 different English translations(Constance Garnett, Pevear & Volokhonsky, Jessie Coulson), and the Franklin Library and Oxford University used Jessie Coulson for their editions which is also my favorite and the most interesting. “The translation of the novel by Jessie Coulson represents accurately, in contemporary English, Dostoevsky’s nineteenth-century Russian original. It distorts neither through modernization nor through Victorianisms, and it is readable in its own right instead of sounding like a translation.” As Franklin Library leatherette books go, this one is easily one of the best.

Crime and Punishment is a novel by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. It was first published in the literary journal The Russian Messenger in twelve monthly installments during 1866. It was later published in a single volume. It is the second of Dostoevsky's full-length novels following his return from ten years of exile in Siberia. Crime and Punishment is considered the first great novel of his mature period of writing. The novel is often cited as one of the supreme achievements in world literature.
