CAL RIPKEN JR. played virtually every game for 20+ seasons, all as a Baltimore Oriole! He was a 19 time All-Star, World Champion, 2 time AL MVP, Rookie of the Year, 2x Gold Glover, 8x Silver Slugger recipient, PLAYED 2,632 CONSECUTIVE GAMES to earn the 'Iron Man' nickname when he passed Lou Gehrig's streak of 2030 consecutive games. Overall he hit .276 with 3184 hits, 431 homers and 1695 RBI and he remains one of the games finest ambassadors!
The card is SEALED in a special screw-down holder.
The card is a glossy photo of Cal wearing his Orioles cap on the cover of a special issue of Sports Illustrated. The background is mostly tan blue and white, the card has an embossed gold facsimile autograph across the bottom of the front. It says 'Special Commemorative Issue * Sports Illustrated * Cal Ripken Jr. * A Tribute to the Iron Man' along the front picture of the issue and the image of a baseball with red stitches appears at the bottom right, just next to the replica, gold foil autograph. The reverse side has another Cal Junior action closeup, this one preparing to field a ball in the infield, and it has mostly white lettering on a mostly brown background. It is identified as SI-S4-01, produced by the manufacturer in 2001 with the MLB logos and manufacturers info as well as TIME and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED registered trademarks.
THIS CARD IS OVER 20+ YEARS OLD BUT IS STILL IN NEAR- MINT CONDITION WITH CLEAN SHARP CORNERS ALL AROUND AND EXCELLENT CENTERING, PLEASE REVIEW THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY!
I'VE DONE MY BEST TO SCAN AND SHOW THE FRONT AND REVERSE VIEWS OF THIS UNIQUE CARD.
The card is well centered (the card has sharp corners on all sides), is in near-mint condition with full gloss and no real imperfections. The card will be shipped carefully packaged for mailing.
