The Copernican System  ~ by Andreas Cellarius (1596-1665),

from an illustration in Cellarius's Atlas Coelestis seu Harmonia Macrocosmica,

published in 1660, now in the care of the British Library, London.

 All cards are carefully packed in a board-backed envelope for protection,

Now in the collection of the British Library, the celestial atlas was one of the most ornate ever produced

 and was the masterpiece of Dutch-German cartographer and cosmographer Andreas Cellarius (c.1596-1665). 

Illustrating cosmological theories and contemporary understanding of the constellations, 

the work is admired for its artistry and visual depictions of scientific theory.
