  • This Beautiful early Fraureuth Saxony Oblong Serving Platter  measures  16 1/2 inches in Length and 11 1/4 inches in Width.  The side rim measures ¾ inches, height of the rim is 1 1/2 inches.  On the bottom of the dish there are a number of trademarks as follows:  Stamped in green a Crown under it F C and Saxony as photo shows.  A 2 is also present.  Impressed into the bottom of the platter before baking and  Glazing is the following:  A Crown over a Latin F in a circle and a 751 and a 3.  These marks are possibly the designer, pattern number or batch numbers.

This wonderful early Oblong Serving Platter is without crazing, chips cracks etc. It appears to most likely never been used, if used very carefully considering its age in the 1918 to 1926 period as trademark show.

In appearance it is excellent as photo shows.

Below I have added information on the Fraureuth AG Saxony Porcelain Factory.

As photos show I would consider this Fraureuth Serving Platter to be in excellent condition.

The first Fraureuther trade-mark existed until at least 1896  (probably however until 1899) as the latin F in a circle

After 1918 the additive "Saxony" is marked, (As scene on this dish offered for auction) although Fraureuth belonged not to Saxony. It belonged this time to Thuringia. The designation "Saxony" was however well known and particularly in the export sale.

The Porcelain factory Fraureuth Joint-stock company (German: Pozellanfabrik translated to English “China Factory” Fraureuth AG) in Fraureuth was one of the biggest and best standard porcelain factories of the German Reich.

Fraureuth, located in the district of Zwickau, is a small town in Saxony, Germany. Fraureuth was a component of Thuringia until 1952.

In 1865 the Fraureuth AG the porcelain factory was established by Römer and Foedisch in a old factory for cotton wool in Fraureuth by Arwed Gustav von Römer and Georg Bruno Foedisch and was later called Fraureuth AG.

1867 - 60 persons are working there. They work with two porcelain stove.

1879 - In the factory are 444 persons employed. The porcelain "cobalt blue with gold" get on the international exhibition in Sydney the gold medal and in Leibzig the first place.

In 1891 the transformation of the porcelain factory of Römer & Foedisch into the porcelain factory Fraureuth AG as noted above.

In 1896 the porcelain factory is one of the largest in Germany (8.5 hectars of factory sites, 9 porcelain stoves with for each 6m³, 18 porcelain stoves and 200 porcelain painter).

In  1910 Export of the Fraureuth AG among other things were shipped to France, England, America, Australia, China, South Africa and east India. Still 450 workers are busy.

In  1926 the Bankruptcy of the porcelain factory Fraureuth AG. The production is stopped after ~61 years. The sellout of the factory under receivership begins.

In 1927 the Reestablishment of the "Fraureuther porcelain factory corporation". A production however never takes place.

In 1934 the company was dissolved.  This information came from an article “FRAUREUTH PORCELAIN”
