This is the last game Mario Lemieux ever played at Maple Leaf Gardens, as he retired after this 1996-1997 NHL season
After this first retirement in 1997, Lemieux was immediately inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as they waived the normal three-year waiting period
When he came out of retirement almost 4 years later, the Leafs had moved into the Air Canada Centre
Mario had not scored a goal at Maple Leaf Gardens in 4 years or won there in 5 years prior to this game, but this game ended 6-5 in favor of the Penguins
Lemieux had 2 goals and 3 points while Jaromir Jagr had 2 goals and 5 points
The line of Lemieux, Jagr and Francis had 10 points this game and an unbelievable 76 points combined in their last 15 games
