Les restes d'au moins 15 individus ont été découverts dans le système de grottes Rising Star en Afrique du Sud et annoncés comme une nouvelle espèce humaine en 2015 Les vestiges datent d'il y a environ 335 000 à 236 000 ans.
LES1 est un crâne relativement complet trouvé dans la chambre Lesedi d'un mâle surnommé Neo (« cadeau » en langue sesotho). Taille du cerveau d'environ 610 ml. Les restes post-crâniens associés de la localité 102a appartiennent probablement au même individu et forment un squelette partiel avec le crâne

The remains of at least 15 individuals were discovered in the Rising Star cave system in South Africa and announced as a new human species in 2015. The remains date to approximately 335,000 to 236,000 years ago.

LES1 is a relatively complete skull found in the Lesedi chamber of a male nicknamed Neo (“gift” in the Sesotho language). Brain size approximately 610 ml. The associated postcranial remains from locality 102a probably belong to the same individual and form a partial skeleton with the skull
