This antique Victorian era burgundy red silk gold leaf brocade bustle skirt train ball gown dress dates from the 1880s. It is made of a luxurious dark red burgundy color silk fabric and an off white cream color gold leaf pattern silk brocade fabric. This elegant evening ball gown has a tailored fitted bodice with a scalloped dentil trim edging along the bottom, a split tails drape down the bustle back, with a plunging squared neckline, wired stand up white lace ruffle trimmed collar, long sleeves with white lace ruffle cuffs, mother of pearl button closures down the front and is fully lined with stays boning sewn inside. The bodice measures 20 inches long, with a 30 inch chest, 22 inch waist, 17 inch long sleeves and an 11 inch back. There is a matching fabric long full floor length cutaway bustle skirt with a very long cascading back train, burgundy gold silk pleated gathering ruched ruffle trim edging detail, a brocade gold leaf front panel, an altered unfinished waistband missing closure and is fully lined. The skirt measures 38 inches long in the front, 65 inches long in the back, with a 22 inch waist and 46 inch hips. This extraordinary gown is in good condition, with only two patched matching fabric repairs under one arm and some loose ruched ruffle trim edging on the skirt (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and affluent wearable antique Victoriana evening ball gown!
