"Vice Precedents," sculpture pda0148 of the Turning Taxis Plywood Puzzles 99 Pieces Project. This sculpture was carved from 6mm 5-ply baltic birch plywood, painted green and blue, and protected by a gloss clear coat. Sculpture measures roughly 31x14x6mm. "Vice Precedents" is one component in the interlocking meta-sculpture "Sculpture Garden." Sculpture is packaged in a two-piece 3-1/2x3-1/2x1 inch box with Turning Taxis Plywood Puzzles logo and details label. Multiple sculptures of "Sculpture Garden" may be packaged in a single box to save buyer packaging costs.
The 99 Pieces Project, a fine art sculptural project inspired by the much-more-impressive 100 Puzzles Project of John Stokes/Custom Puzzle Craft. The 99 Pieces Project was launched on April Fool's Day, 2024, with an anticipated completion prior to July 19th, the start of Puzzle Parley 2024.
The complete terms of the project are as follows:
- The 99 individual sculptures to be offered comprise the interlocking meta-sculpture Sculpture Garden, a work whose total dimensions roughly equal 240x65x6 mm. While no official photograph of the meta-sculpture currently exists online, one may eventually be released but only following the completion of the 99 Pieces Project.
- Each sculpture of the 99 Pieces Project was hand carved from 6mm baltic birch plywood with a Dewalt DW788 scrollsaw, subsequently hand painted on both sides, and protected with a gloss clear coat.
- Individual sculptures will be randomly assigned a Turning-Taxis-Werke-Verzeichnis serial from pda0101-0199. Two sculptures of similar TTWV should not be presumed to interlock with one another.
- A maximum of one sculpture will be offered for auction per day. The length of each auction will not exceed 120 hours (shortest duration I can list on ebay without paying a fee). The opening bid of the initial sculpture of the 99 Pieces Project will be set at $0.01, with each subsequent auction's opening bid increasing by one additional cent. The final sculpture will be offered at an opening bid of $0.99. Sometimes a day or two may be skipped. Skipped days will not be made up by offering more than one puzzle the following day. Instead the duration of the Project will be Extended. A day's slot is used when an Auction begins, not when it ends.
- Packaging (roughly $1.50 per sculpture) and shipping is not included in the winning bid and is the further responsibility of the buyer. Buyers of anticipated multiple sculptures are encouraged to reduce costs by combining packaging and shipping fees.
- Winning bidders will be offered the opportunity to be added to a private contact sheet of fellow winners. While this is not compulsory it is recommended. The purpose of this contact list is to encourage exchange and lending of sculptures among winners. Access to the contact list is restricted to those who have consented to having their contact information shared.
- Unsold sculptures will remain the property of Turning Taxis Plywood Puzzles and will not be offered for resale.
- The appearance of individual sculptures will not be revealed until the moment they are offered for auction. Once revealed they will be archived at http://TurningTaxis.com.
