This rare sculpture depicts Neville Chamberlain, crafted in 1939 after the Munich Agreement collapse. It captures Chamberlain's appearance in September 1938 upon his return to England from a meeting with Hitler, where he famously delivered his "peace for our time" speech. Despite Chamberlain's optimism fueled by the Anglo-German Declaration, Hitler's invasion of Poland less than a year later led to the UK and France declaring war on Germany. The figure portrays Chamberlain holding the briefcase containing the peace declaration with both his and Hitler's signatures. A plinth beside him bears the years 1918 and 1939, symbolizing the interwar period. Made of ceramic and painted bronze, the sculpture is marked "England" on the back without any identifiable maker's marks.
