Provenance – no inscriptions, initials E.M.B. to the front board.

- Spine – good condition – gilt titles and gilt decoration, five gilt raised bands, worn and rubbed.
- Joints – good condition – sound.
- Corners – good condition – bumped and worn.
- Boards – good condition – full leather boards with elaborate gilt filet, marked and worn, initials E.M.B. to the front board.
- Page edges – good condition – top edges darkened, all gilt.

- Hinges – good condition – sound.
- Paste downs – good condition – yellow, inner gilt dentelles.
- End papers – good condition – yellow, subsequently tanned with minor foxing.
