We do have a little French bulldog-so while all attempts are taken to ensure no errant hairs have made their way onto this item-it is a possibility-so if you or someone in your home are highly allergic this may not be a good source for you. He also attends doggie daycare on a pretty regular basis-so while we do not own a cat-there is a very remote possibility that another dog may transfer their hair or fur or a cat's hair to our dog. Fabulous super soft light brown...please view photo number 5 for the best reflection of the color...the others that are closer up implemented my flash and have more shine and sheen than the leather actually has...which has very little sheen to it and is more of a matte ~ the handles and detailing is a darker brown than the body of the bag but the leather on the body is a very soft supple leather ~ can be used as an oversized bag or as a tote
