This vintage Chinese cheongsam cherry blossom blue silk devore voided velvet qipao dress dates from 1940. It is made of a luxurious dark blue sheer silk voided velvet devore fabric with a burnout cut cherry blossom flower pattern. This traditional Chinese cheongsam dress has a long floor length form fitting style with red silk trim edging, high side slit vents, a mandarin collar long sleeves, with a side zipper, snap closures along the front neckline, decorative red pankou knot trim and is fully lined with a size Small tag sewn inside. The dress measures 53 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 26 inch waist, 34 inch hips, 18 inch long sleeve, 13 inch back and 14 inch neck. Manchu women early on wore a loose fitting one-piece dress which were called "qipao", transforming later to the more form fitting style "Mandarin Gown" popular in Shanghai during the 1920s-1940s becoming more influenced by Western fashion and fabrics. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful quality custom made fully lined piece of Westernized Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
