Vintage Chinese Chrysanthemum Blue Damask Dress Robe Jacket & Skirt

This vintage Chinese chrysanthemum blue damask dress robe jacket and skirt dates from the late 1950s. It is made of shades of blue damask weave brocade fabric with a woven chrysanthemum flower design from the "China Man-Made Fiber Corp." selvage label. In Chinese culture the chrysanthemum is a symbol of autumn and the flower of the ninth moon. This beautiful blue Chinese bridal style two piece dress has a fitted style robe jacket with dark blue trim edging, a rounded fold over collar, long full sleeves wide cuffs, knotted button toggles, snap closures along the side and is fully lined with a custom made label sewn inside. The top measures 23 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 28 inch waist, 19 inch long sleeve, 12 inch neck and 13 inch back. There is a matching brocade fabric long full floor length pleated skirt with an adjustable back tie waistband, snap closures and is unlined. The skirt measures 38 inches long, with a 26 inch waist and 50 inch hips. It is in good condition, with only some slight soiling discoloration on the inside neck lining, sleeve cuffs and faint underarm stains (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful quality custom made piece of Chinese wedding wearable art!
