This is a fabulous large antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate cabochon design brooch.

The stones are banded carnelian agates from near Cupar in Fife, green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum, banded pink speckled agates from Cupar and brown and white banded agates from Usan on the east coast.

The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces from this period and has been fully tested and is sterling silver.

The brooch length is 6.0 cm ( two and two fifth inches ) and the pin and C type clasp are in good working condition although the clasp is not original.
