Rimbaud Tel Que Je L'Ai Connu
by Georges Izambard with Préface by Patrice Viart

Éditions Le Passeur, 1991 reprint. Very good paperbound wraps. Text in French.
Regarding Rimbaud (1854-1891), many explanatory elements are undoubtedly already present in his relationship with Georges Izambard (1848-1931), a young professor of rhetoric at the College of Charleville, anti-Bonapartist but not a Communard sympathizer like was Rimbaud. At first, the teacher helped his pupil's qualities to reveal himself, but rather quickly he had to be overwhelmed by the dizzying progress of a teenager even more unpredictable than the others. This is confirmed by reading or re-reading the testimonies given over the years, from the end of 1891 to the beginning of the 1930s in "Rimbaud as I knew him". This work, which brings together various articles from Izambard and reproduces the letters that Rimbaud had addressed to him, was published in 1946 and then in 1963 by Mercure de France before being taken over by Éditions Le Passeur in 1991,
