The Summer Brew set is a slow culmination of art, love of sport and imagination.
My Dad played and worked in professional baseball for 35 years. He says music and ball are his "cradle to-the-grave passions". He has painted for the last 40 years of his life...steadily improving but loving the anonymity and mystery of his work. He always gets excited about a new set and how it might be interpereted. The money never motivates him as he has only owned 4 cars in his lifetime and they're all used trucks!
Anyway, I'm Monty, his son. I like cards and I like my Dad, but he's crazy about his work. This set--along with the Ruby Ale and coming End Zone Cigars, Pure set, '22s (retired), Real West and Red Man are his favorites. He has told EVERYONE he'll focus on those this year. This set is, quite literally, my Dad's life in baseball and his perceptions of trhe men who play it. On Babe Ruth; Actual quote from the most knowledgeable "baseball Man" alive today...I recorded it on a car ride...
"Kids I coach--and sign to million-dollar deals-- think this guy was a f*ckin candy bar. Ridiculous. An intense, angry and emotional competitor. He would have made a legendary manager. He came from nothing and never understood all of the fuss. Sunuvabich said--actually said-- "I'll hit 'em--YOU count 'em"...There was no social media to follow. You read the parers. Thing is, they made him out to be a cartoon character. He wasn't. He was a pissed off kid that could hit the sh*t out of a baseball who craved attention he never got. This was a remarkable human being...complex, tired and disconnected enough to pique your interest... The only player today that could UNDERSTAND--let alone carry his Jock is Bryce Harper. Harper...the best player in the game--by far. F*ck statistics. His mind goes to a place few recongnize when it counts. Jordan, Ruth, Ali...Jeter...you'd better remember Harper or you'll piss him off like Acuna did--and that's the end of it....(Laughs)...he's different."
The art on this set is original and he really tried to put his absolute favorite images on these cards. He did say he wishes his artwork was better to "match my passion but, this is as good as God will allow me. I want more but I won't shortcut anything. They'll like it and get it. My guys have an eye and collect because they love it and they get excited like I do."
My Dad's a pain in the butt, but the older I get, the cooler he gets.
He loves them and hopes you will, too!

In addition, thousands of images have been donated from various archives and some are paid for and licensed individually.
The goal is to provide new looks at players and even do a new take on an old image!

For the past 20 years I have been producing custom baseball cards that transport the collector back in time with fresh colors, textures, styles and the magic of collecting.
The cards, themselves are mounted to substrates as old as 100 years!!! This means that the cardboard stock is actually vintage!!
These cards are slightly thicker than standard cards, hand painted, hand distressed and built layer by painstaking layer! Each card takes between 1-4 hours to produce--it is a labor of love. They are first painted B&W original photos and negatives...EVERYTHING YOU SEE WAS black & white. Professional and customized software applications are then "pressed" into the artwork. These adaptations and filters are reminiscent of vintage plate style printers. The process in quite involved and requires trial and error and patience...but the end result is typically worth the wait! By using a truly vintage process, materials and operating with individual color plates, there will be shifts in focus and detail. No detail was spared in making these. In addition, we are ALWAYS busy looking to improve the authenticity factors in every offering.
Our production goal is to produce a desirable card while honoring the shortcomings of the processes in each era. Striking a balance is the key. For example, the Leaf sets in the late '40s are difficult and exciting but, sadly, the production is just awful. We will try to produce cards that honor the difficulty while still maintaining a presentable and attractive collectible.
