1/72 scale 3D Printed RESIN construction model kit suitable for experienced modellers.

Over 50 3D-printed parts, vacformed windows and brass undercarriage legs. 

Three decal options provide markings for:

*  A35-1, Seaplane Training Flight (STF), RAAF Base Rathmines, NSW. Early WWII RAAF Red/Blue/White Roundels.

*  A35-2, YQ-Z, No.9 Fleet Co-Operation Squadron, RAAF Rathmines, mid 1943. WWII RAAF Blue/White Roundels.

*  A35-4, WWII RAAF Blue/White Roundels.

The Douglas Dolphin was an amphibious flying boat of the 1930s.  It was used by the US Navy, US Coast Guard and several civilian airlines including Wilmington-Catalina Airlines.  Note, this kit does not include markings for these operators.

Four Douglas Dolphin Seaplanes were operated by the RAAF during WWII.  One was presented to the Australian Government by the Australasian Petroleum Co Pty Ltd.  A further three were purchased from private operators in the USA by the Australian Government Trade Commissioner in New York.

The RAAF used the Dolphin as a stop–gap seaplane trainer until sufficient numbers of Catalina flying boats became available. 

They were also popular as a squadron hack. Though ground crew found them easy to maintain, lack of spares made them difficult to keep serviceable.  Pilots found them easy to fly and comfortable.

Hobartville Hobbies is a small Australian business who has taken a bold step in producing kits for Australian theme subjects.  They produce lovely kits of subjects not commonly. or previously at all, available.

Yes, they are not cheap, but the modeller who understands a little about the production process and market size will realise they are getting a good deal.  Dont expect a Tami-Gawa-Airfix kit....if they could sell 50,000 of these, they would have produced the subject years ago!

Very nicely detailed kit will require careful modelling.
