Minichamps 1:18 Williams-BMW FW26 "Walrus Nose" Juan Pablo Montoya 2004 - MIB.

From the "Williams F1 Team" collection, a superbly detailed, Mint condition, Minichamps 1:18 scale replica model Williams-BMW FW26 "Walrus Nose", as driven by Juan Pablo Montoya in the 2004 Formula One season.

Powered by the BMW-Power P84, 3.0-litre V10 engine, the Williams FW26 featured a revolutionary aerodynamics package. With a short, stubby nosecone connected to the front wing by sloping vertical bars, allowing increased airflow to the underside of the car, the radical front section, dubbed "Walrus nose", made the FW26 proved to be one of the most attention-grabbing cars of the season.
The FW26 was fast in pre-season testing, with Juan Pablo Montoya as a title favourite. However, during the season proper, the car proved inconsistent and difficult to set up, and after a barren mid-season, the team redesigned the front end, fitting it with a more conventional nosecone in time for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Juan Pablo Montoya began the season with fifth place in Australia, then took second and third in Malaysia and San Marino, either side of a lowly Bahrain thirteenth. Fourth and eighth followed retirement in Spain, before Montoya suffered disqualifications in Canada and the USA. First due to a technical irregularity with the brake ducts, then for changing cars too late on the starting grid. An eighth and two fifth places were gained in the FW26's last three outings, before the revised car was introduced, which Montoya took to victory in the season finale.
