MORGAN COUNTY, ILLINOIS POSTAL HISTORY – 1907

Here’s an item tied to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

The Rev. James Caldwell Chapter of the D.A.R., Jacksonville, Illinois.

Looks like hand painted watercolor(?) of an axe and cherry branch

(ties to the George Washington “cannot tell a lie” story),

cut out and adhered to the back of a postal card (Scott # UX18).

Per Postal Regs PSM & POA, July 1873, any add-ons and the rate is treated as a letter.

This postal card has been uprated with a 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamp, Scott # 300, for a total franking of 2¢.

There is an event, Feb 22nd 1907, with Mrs. Crabtree at the Rev. James Caldwell Chapter of the D.A.R.
