Notable Features
  • This Antique Vintage Deco Retro necklace pendant, exquisitely handcrafted from 8k gold and weighing 3.7 grams, features a striking emerald-cut citrine, measuring 1.40 inches by 0.70 inches. This piece beautifully demonstrates the elegance and sophistication typical of early 20th-century jewelry design, despite the need for a repair on the bale.
  • The pendant showcases a large, emerald-cut citrine, known for its vibrant yellow hue that captures the essence of sunlight. The choice of citrine for this pendant not only adds a bright, warm element but also brings a touch of luxury and richness to the piece. The gemstone’s faceted cut enhances its ability to reflect light, making it a dazzling focal point of the design.
  • Set in 8k gold, the pendant also features intricate repoussé work around the citrine. Repoussé is a metalworking technique where the material is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create designs in low relief. This adds a textured, decorative element that contrasts beautifully with the smooth, clean lines of the citrine’s cut. The repoussé work on the pendant is indicative of the meticulous craftsmanship and artistic detail valued during the Deco Retro period.
  • Although the bale of the pendant requires repair, this does not detract from the overall beauty or function of the piece once restored. Repairing the bale would ensure that the pendant can continue to be worn securely and enjoyed for many more years.
  • Handmade with meticulous attention to every detail, this citrine pendant exemplifies the creativity and craftsmanship characteristic of its era. It reflects a sophisticated understanding of design and materials, making it a standout piece that remains stylish and relevant.
  • Rare and beautifully made, this 8k gold emerald-cut citrine necklace pendant is not just a piece of jewelry but a wearable piece of art that offers a connection to the past. It embodies the innovation, elegance, and artistic flair of its time, making it highly desirable for collectors, enthusiasts of vintage jewelry, or anyone who appreciates unique and beautifully crafted pieces.
  • Owning this pendant provides an opportunity to cherish a piece of history, admired for its aesthetic appeal, the skill with which it was crafted, and the timeless elegance it represents. This pendant, with its stunning citrine and exceptional craftsmanship, promises to be a beloved heirloom and a continual source of fascination and admiration, enhancing any sophisticated jewelry collection.
Damage: Age appropriate wear. The bale is split and needs to be repaired for the pendant to be worn.

The History

Retro jewelry refers to pieces created in the 1940s and 1950s. This was a period during which jewelry designers were largely influenced by the changes stemming from World War II. These designs reflect an infusion of futuristic vision with elements inspired by preceding periods, encompassing a variety of gemstones, shapes, and materials. Materials used commonly in Retro jewelry are gold, gold alloys, and silver as the wartime put a restriction on the use of platinum. Designs can be masculine, geometric and modern, or softer, more feminine and floral.

The Hollywood Regency style came into fashion during the 1930s, ushered along by the Golden Age of Hollywood. This style was heralded by bright, contrasting colors and modernization of the opulence of Baroque styles, featuring a deliberately frivolous extravagance that screamed glitz and glamour. “Big girls need big diamonds” was taken to heart, and the gorgeous Hollywood stars decked themselves appropriately, with blindingly glittering jewels to showcase their lives of luxury.
