CANADA 1897 2c Small Queen LOVELY DIAGONAL BISECT COVER $3,000
2c green Queen Victoria Small Queen, lower right half of a diagonal bisect, tied to cover by Yorkville, Toronto FE.19.1897 c.d.s. cancel, paying the 1c printed matter rate to Canadian Pacific Railway, Toronto with same day arrival cancel. A lovely bisect cover - these were not authorized by the Post Office, but some went through without penalty during shortages of 1c stamps or when a sender tried to "sneak one through"
Unitrade #36b, catalogue value is $3,000.00 - but the catalogue value is for a bisect from the early 1870s. $500-750 seems to be the price point for clean bisect covers from the 1890s and this is offered at the bottom end of this range.
I am currently offering a number of Small Queen items from my
collection of Small Queens. I am an international exhibitor of the issue which
I have seriously collected for 30 years. I guarantee that the identification of
these stamps, as to the printing period, perforations, etc., is 100% accurate. These
items are offered with starting prices which are below my cost and which
compare very favourably to other sellers for similar quality stamps.
Shipments over $200 will be required
to be shipped via registered mail at a cost of $12.00 to Canada, $22.50 to the
rest of the World.
