I have here for sale a book entitled HARUM SCARUM A POOR RELATION by Esme Stuart and published by Jarrold & Sons, London, 19th edition. Undated but a small pen inscription to front free endpaper suggests c.1910. This book tells the story of an Australian orphan Antonia "Toney" Whitburn who comes to stay with her disapproving Aunt Dove and kindly uncle. She befriends Miss Crump, a weary distant relative of her Aunt Dove, and sets out to help Miss Crump find happiness. This book was the first of a three book series, "Harum Scarum A Poor Relation", "Harum Scarum's Fortune", and "Harum Scarum Marriage."

Bound in green hardboards with gilt lettering to front board and spine, and brown, cream, and black illustration to front board and spine. Bumped and chipped to head and tail of spine. Rear hinge is split. Binding pulling. Pages clean. This book is in very good overall condition. 283 pages. 20 x 14 cm.
