Microsoft Surface RT running Windows RT 8.1.
Can be used as a touchscreen tablet, or as laptop with kickstand and attached (removable) keyboard that doubles as a cover.
Includes Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint), power cord, and removable keyboard cover (good) and a second keyboard cover (crappy keyboard) thrown in.
NOTE: if you are unfamiliar with Windows RT then please pay careful attention to the following:
- Windows RT is not the same as Windows and standard Windows applications will not run on Windows RT even though both come from Microsoft
- Windows RT is no longer supported by Microsoft and the v8.1 on this device is the last version of Windows RT
- You are extremely unlikely to be able to install any new software on this device - only purchase it if you just need Word, Excel, Powerpoint, email, and web browsing, i.e. the preinstalled apps
Having said that, it is a surprisingly attractive looking device with a surprisingly good keyboard. Performance is pretty good, you can use bluetooth devices (e.g. mouse) with it, it has two USB ports, front and rear cameras, WiFi connectivity. Battery life is good.
Ideal for travelling when you don’t want to take a real laptop, or as an expendable “don’t care if it gets stolen” alternative. If you want a real laptop spend $3k and get a Macbook. Otherwise, this budget cast off may have to suffice
