I made a handful of ISA card adapters from an existing design online and have some leftovers. I have fitted 96MB DiskOnChip modules to these and set them up for use in old computers. The boards can be loaded with extra components to give an RTC functionailty as well.

These are very useful when you are testing motherboards, being able to boot into a lightweight operating system for quick checks without having to plug in an IDE controller. These essentially have a small bootloader in an option rom space of 8k, and creates a (flash) hard disk visible to the OS that is seamless. The flash disk has a high lifetime read/write cycle just like a regular SSD that we know today, they are just very small and connect to the computer in a unique way.

- These work at addresses C800, D000 and D800

- No additional software is needed

- No drivers to load

- Does not need an IDE or any other type of disk controller hardware on the computer.

- Mainly ideal for 286 up to Pentium era computers.

- Extra DOS utilities are included to format, test, and otherwise manipulate the bootloader and whole-module re-imaging if needed.

- These can be set to boot first or last if you use with an existing IDE controller and hard drive too.

- Does not work on IBM 5150 PC or XT from what I have tested, maybe it uses 16-bit instructions?
- Works fine on 386, 486, Pentiums that I have tested

The 96MB DiskOnChip 2000 - is a flash disk in a JEDEC DIP32 package, as used on embedded controllers and industrial SBC (Single Board Computers). Low-profile, small form factor and high access speed - these are perfect for SBC's, which often include a socket especially for these.

These are used modules but I have formatted each one and put on a blank DOS 6.22 bootable partition along with the latest firmware bootloader "TrueFFS 5140". The photo provided in this listing shows the TrueFFS boot message from the DOC loading at D800h.
