Gentle gamers of all ages adopt bear cubs as virtual playmates, in the first follow-up to Microsoft's premiere family franchise for the Kinect motion-sensing accessory. Onscreen animals can mimic the movements of their owners, and learn to follow several gesture and vocal commands. When the animal is close enough for tactile interaction, a pair of translucent hands appears, allowing players to scratch ears or rub a belly by making the motions in view of the Kinect sensors. Players can choose one of five different bears as their own. The game plays out on a virtual island, which players may safely explore with their pets, unlocking new rewards and discovering collectables and upgrades. A friendly animal guide called Bumblina is on hand to show new players around the island. In addition the five species of bear cub -- black, grizzly, cinnamon, glacier, and polar -- the game also includes the five feline species featured in the first Kinectimals. As with the original game, stuffed animal "plushies," sold separately, are also available to be purchased and imported into the game.
