I have here for sale a book entitled THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF PEG WOFFINGTON With Pictures of the Period in which she Lived by J FITZGERALD MOLLOY Third Edition in One Volume published by Hurst and Blackett, Publishers, London, in 1887. Here we have the biography of the 18th century Irish actress and socialite Margaret Woffington (1720-1760), known professionally as Peg Woffington. The book includes a full-pate b/w portrait of Peg Woffington on the frontispiece.
Quarter bound maroon leather on hardboards with gilt lettering on the spine. Minor marks on the boards with wear to the leather on the spine and dulling to the gilt lettering. Browning and foxing to endpapers with name of previous owner on the front endpaper. Feint scribble marks to Contents pages and light foxing and marks to pages. Front hinge slightly cracked but all pages are firm and the book is in very good condition. xv, 352 pages. 19 x 13 cm.
