I have here for sale a book entitled CHESHIRE LEADERS Social and Political by Ernest Gaskell.  A privately published work for private circulation, published by the Queenhithe Printing and Publishing Co Ltd, London around 1896.  111 profiles on leaders from the county of Cheshire, 57 of which have a b/w photographic plate of the person accompanying the write-up on their life and work.  The noted people from the county include The Duke of Westminster, Marquess of Cholmondeley; Earl Egerton of Tatton; Lord Leigh; Henry Bloor; Charles Thomas Whitley; Alfred Moritz Mond; and George Edgar Newton.

Half maroon leather on red cloth hardboards with gilt border between.  Gilt emblem and lettering to the front board.  Gilt bands, motifs and lettering to the spine.  A few scuffs to the head and tail of the spine.  A few light smudges to the cloth.  Lovely gilt patterned endpapers with a bookplate for John Moir to the front one.  He is mentioned in the book so maybe the circulation was only to the people in the book or their families.  Gilt page edges all round.  Pages clean.  Approx 220 pages of text plus the 57 plates.  28 x 22 cm.
