I have here for sale a book entitled ADVENTURES OF BRITISH SEAMEN IN THE SOUTHERN OCEAN displaying the Striking Contrasts which the Human Character Exhibits in an Uncivilised State by H Murray.  Published by Constable and Co in 1827.  This volume covers the Shipwreck of the Antelope in August 1783 with an Account of the Pelew Islands; and The Mutiny of the Bounty with Consequences arising from it; Bligh's Voyage through the Pacific in an Open Boat, Voyage and Shipwreck of the Pandora; and Settlement and Present State of Pitcairn's Island.  A section at the back with plate of Tippahee, A New Zealand Chief, entitled Particulars of the Destruction of a British Vessel on the Coast of New Zealand; with Anecdotes of some New Zealand Chiefs.  Another plate at the start.

Bound in full dark brown calf leather with gilt bands, motifs and a black leather title block with gilt lettering to the spine.  Marbled page edges.  Pages a little sunned but tightly bound and clean.  353 pages.  15 cm x 9 cm.
