This is a nicer late 1497 to 1566 Ferdinand and Queen Isabella Spanish Treasure Era Cob Coin. The detail shows well. This is an authentic Spanish BILLON Cob coin. This coin was hand struck and was made of BILLON, a 2.4% Silver Copper mix. "Billon" is low-grade silver. These coins were struck in low grade silver and sometimes look like they are copper.  

This is the kind of coinage used for supporting and financing Christopher Columbus's voyages that led to the discovery of the New World by Europeans, and for the establishment of Spain as a major power in Europe and much of the world for more than a century.

It is getting harder to find nicer examples of these older coins in nice circulated condition at low prices. These old authentic cob coins are about the size of a U.S. Dime to Quarter, and sometimes even larger.
