Edwardian Point de Venise Battenburg Tape Lace Cream Short Shrug Bolero Jacket

This antique Edwardian era Point de Venise battenburg tape lace cream short shrug bolero jacket dates from 1910. It is hand made of an off white ivory cream color mixed technique lace with both bobbin, needle made stitches heavy battenburg tape lace, joined by bobbin made braids and thread bars with raised buttonhole stitching creating a decorative spiral, scroll work, floral leaf design pattern and Point de Venise assembled with firm durable needle lace, scrolling vine leaves, flowers, spiral designs joined by buttonholed brides, ornamented with picots and outlined with heavy cordonnet. This lovely lace short cropped bolero jacket shrug top has an open front, no closure, puffed shoulder sleeves with tapered cuffs and is sheer, unlined. The jacket measures 19 inches long, with a 36 inch chest, 16 inch long sleeves and a 12 inch back. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a beautiful piece of one of kind antique lace wearable art!
