Known as pandan leaf, Rampe, or screw pine leaf, these are widely used in Asian cooking and are used in both savory and sweet dishes. These dried cut pieces can be used when rice is cooked to add flavor and fragrance or when cooking curries.
Pandan leaves are rich in essential oils, glycosides, and alkaloids, and also contain traces of tannin and isoprene esters. They are traditionally used to reduce symptoms of pain and fevers and are used as a laxative.
