"The Book House for Children", 1952. Volumes 1 - 12, Pictorial Cover Hardbacks. Vintage books that show expected age and wear and remain in very good reading condition; filled with charming illustrations that have retained their color remarkably well.  End papers are lovely (see photos above.)  Volumes 1 and 2 have the most wear, and there is less wear with progressive volumes. Closing Volumes (5 - 12) have minor wear other than aging. Pages have some soiling/ smudges/ finger prints  - primarily along the edges, toning, a few lightly creased corners and stray marks, and occasional creasing - text is completely legible. Page edges have toning and shelving/ handling soiling. Binding, hinges and spines are strong; the spines are free of creasing. The covers have small bent or frayed corners, fraying on spine edges (varies with books), light fading on edges in early volumes, and small stains or rubbing on the back (not all books). A few of the color plates have small rubbed spots. Any exceptions are listed below.  (Note: Any glare or shadows on the photographs are due to lighting and photographer and are not on the books.)
