New batteries fitted and the shutter fires correctly at all speeds, however when a lens is attached the shutter is sluggish - I have tried this with different lenses and the same thing happens

The focus confirmation lights in the viewfinder are working perfectly - a handy feature for photographers whose eyesight is not as good as it used to be. The red lights turn green when the image is in focus.
