This gorgeous RARE & UNREAD definitive edition from The Oxford University Press is EXCELLENT condition with no markings inside or out and no attached bookplates. There is the slightest bit of water damage on the very bottom of a few pages towards the end of the book. It is as though a single drop of water hit a spot on the bottom of the text block and was allowed to soak in. It is VERY minor, and I have taken a picture of this, which can be found at the end of the list of pictures. But this is a totally unused book. The entire text block is still stuck together at the gilt edges because the pages have never even been separated for the first time after being treated with gold leaf during production. The satin ribbon bookmark was moved from its original position for the first time by me. These definitive Charles Dickens editions also have special features like an index of all the characters' names and their roles and relationships in the novels, and lists of all the many illustrations and their information and attribution to the multiple different artists, for example. This book's production was limited to 7,500 units when it was manufactured back in 1984 by the unfortunately now-defunct world-class Franklin Mint, so there is a finite and very limited number of these sumptuous books.
