Gile is a DPO - a Discontinued Post Office which operated in Franklin County 1906 - 1932.

 

Posted to Mrs. Theo Townsend, State Hospital, Binghamton, New York.

 

This was originally the New York State Inebriate Asylum,

then the Binghamton State Hospital. BSH is considered to be the first USA

institution designed and constructed to treat alcoholism as a mental disorder.

 

The cover has a tear right edge and is dirty and stained.
