I have here for sale 5 books entitled THE CONNOISSEUR An Illustrated Magazine for Collectors.  All published by Sampson Low Marston & Co Ltd between 1901 and 1906. They are the bind-ups of all the issues of the magazine published over a four month period. I have:


Vol I September-December 1901

Vol IV September-December 1902 & Vol V January-April 1903 (one book containing two volumes)

Vol VI May-August 1903 & September-December 1903 (one book containing two volumes)

Vol VIII January-April 1904

Vol XIII September-December 1905 and Vol XIV January-April 1906 (one book containing two volumes)


Each issue has a number of b/w and colour illustrations, some full page as well as several tipped in colour plates in almost every volume (mounted on green thick paper).  


The Connoisseur (later simply Connoisseur) was originally a British magazine taken to the United States by William Hearst and published from 1901 to 1992 in the US, covering luxury topics such as fine art, collectibles and antique furniture. It was edited for several years by Herbert Granville Fell, later by L. G. G. Ramsay and later still by Bevis Hillier in England. 


Bound in quarter chestnut leather on brown cloth hardboards with a gilt border.  Olive green leather title blocks to the spines with gilt bands.  One volume has a slightly faded spine and there is minor rubbing to the heads and tails of the spines.  The 1903 volume has damp staining to the fore edge of the front board.  Gilt top edge to pages.  Pages glossy.  All binding firm, some plates have tissue guards.  Condition: very good.  Vol I - 280 pages, Vol IV/V - 294/304 pages; Vol VI/VII - 258 + 264 pages; Vol VIII - 262 pages, Vol XIII/XIV - 280 & 256 pages.  29 x 23 cm.

Postage will be by Air Mail outside of UK.  If you buy more than one item then the postage cost falls for the second and further items as I will put them into one parcel - so you save money. We wrap and post the parcels on Monday and Tuesday - therefore if you pay before midday on Tuesday we will get it in the postal sacks on Tuesday night, and if it is after that time then it will go into the postal service on the following Monday.
