1988-89 OPC Hockey includes rookie cards of Hall of Fame members Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan, Joe Nieuwendyk and Pierre Turgeon. as well as those of Sean Burke, Bob Probert, Scott Mellanby, Ray Sheppard, Steve Duchesne and Dave Gagner, among others.

While O-Pee-Chee and Topps usually use the same photos on their cards, this time the Wayne Gretzky cards are different - Topps has a photo of Gretzky holding his new L.A. jersey in front of him, taken at the press conference announcing his trade to L.A., while O-Pee-Chee uses a photo of Gretzky on ice in his L.A. uniform.

Other Hall of Fame stars in the set include Patrick Roy, Steve Yzerman, Pat Lafontaine, Chris Chelios, Doug Gilmour, Ray Bourque, Mark Messier, Borje Salming, Larry Robinson, Luc Robitaille, Adam Oates, Paul Coffey, Mark Howe, Marcel Dionne, Peter Stastny, Mike Gartner, Ron Francis, Michel Goulet, Cam Neely, Grant Fuhr, Scott Stevens, Dale Hawerchuk, Bryan Trottier, Dave Andreychuk, Phil Housley, Dino Ciccarelli, Glen Anderson, Kevin Lowe, Rod Langway, Joe Mullen and Bernie Federko.

I bought this set in 1989. It was obviously assembled from a vending case. All of the cards have 4 sharp corners, beautiful colour and gloss, and generally good centering. Some of the key cards in the set are pictured; these are the cards the buyer will receive. The Brett Hull rookie card appears to be especially beautifully centered.

Purchaser will also receive a 1988-89 OPC wax wrapper.
