"Issued at New
Iberia, LA" T41 $100 1862 PF-26 Cr. UNL PMG Choice Very Fine 35 EPQ.
The manuscript annotation on the back indicates that this note was issued at
New Iberia, LA on February 9, 1863. This is a rare issuing location, with perhaps a dozen or so surviving
examples known to Fricke in 2014. Camp Pratt, a large Confederate
conscription and training camp, that also housed some Union prisoners, was
located near New Iberia and its presence was probably the reason for notes
being issued from here. The host note is printed on paper watermarked CSA in
vertical block letters and has a printed "T" at the left edge of the
hoer vignette. In addition to the manuscript date and place of issue entry, a
large IP stamp usually associated with the Trans-Mississippi Department is
present, paying interest to January 1, 1864 and 1865 (a "5" is boldly
handwritten over the "4" of a stamped "1864" in the date).
The note is well printed on bright paper and free of repairs or meaningful
impairments.....
