This is 100% guaranteed the real deal. What started off life as a U.S. Civil War cap box/pouch then saw a post war life serving with the 10th Regiment, U.S.Cavalry, often affectionately referred to as “Buffalo Soldiers”.

I have handled a few but this one I have kept over the years because it is a minty example. Besides the fact it is structurally in fine condition…it is marked so well.

From the original Civil War era stamping, to the 10th Cavalry markings. Company F 10th Cavalry. I have never seen one so marked. Company, Regiment, and soldier number!!!

It has the original wool and pick still. Amazing!!

This has always been one of my pieces I would put up against any other example, from either a private or museum collection.

But, you know the deal…you can’t take it with you, so to a new collection it shall go.

This modification of the cap box is known from photos of the era and is a documented modification.

This is a great piece for the highest level collection.
