Very rare circa 1928 / 1929 DOT Villiers 247cc Motorcycle project

DOT stands for "Devoid of trouble"

Engine number: DZ 3378
Frame number: 4029A

Please scroll down the page for lots more pictures of the motorcycle-

I am reluctantly selling my very rare little DOT Villiers 247cc motorcycle project
as I have way too many projects already and I also desperately need the space!

This is a very nice project and will make somebody an extremely rare motorcycle
as there certainly isn't many of these in preservation!

The first picture below is the only other example of this model of DOT that
I managed to find on the internet! But gives a good example of what it could look like

The bike sadly has no paperwork or V5 document so will need re-registering
with the DVLA once the work is completed.

The project is very sound and consists of-

Solid frame and complete Brampton girder forks,
Villiers Mark IX-A 247cc engine (Minus Piston),
Sturmey Archer 3 speed hand change gearbox complete with clutch,
Correct Pie Crust tank,
Oil pressure tank with the needle adjuster that supplies the engine,
Both front and rear mudguards which are both still very solid,
Saddle frame with springs but will need rear springs,

Also included is the 2 original down pipes for the exhaust that came with it.

The front and rear wheels which are non original and I believe are from
a late 30's BSA C10? But they do fit and may well work for the bike
with some slight alterations.

I believe the original wheel hubs would have been British Hub type

The handlebars which I believe are also from a BSA but would work nicely
as they also have an inbuilt straight pull throttle.

Also includes a nice Brass ML headlamp which would work nicely
as well as the rear tail lamp shell on the number plate board.

The engine also has the correct original matching pre war Villiers Carburettor

The flywheel magneto does still produce a spark but not tested for electrical
output for the headlamp voltage.

Engine is currently missing its piston (The bore measures 67.75mm)
I am currently trying to chase down a piston to suit the engine so if I
manage to get hold of one before the bike is collected i will include but
cannot promise success with this*

Parts that I can see that are needed for this motorcycle are as follows-

.Maybe correct British Hub wheels if you choose
.Exhaust system (Twin pipes)
.Rear stand to be finished (Top special lugs are included on the bike see pics)
.Rear brake pedal
.Andre style steering damper that connects down to the petrol tank bracket
.Kick start lever for the gearbox
.Primary and rear chain covers
.Piston for the engine (As mentioned about above)
.Rear main saddle springs
.Footrest bar and footrests
.Handlebar control lever / cables
.Various fixtures and fittings

Please make sure you do read all the above and also please do
study all of the below pictures to make sure you know what you
are bidding on and what is required.
This is through and through a project and should be judged as such.

Collection to be made in good time please with payment by cash
on collection or by cleared bank transfer prior to pick up.

This motorcycle is for collection only from my storage garage which
is located in Chingford, North London.

The garage is located well outside of the London Congestion charge zone
and also luckily just outside of the Low emission zones too.
