Barbara Joined the Concorde Fleet in 1992 and her elevation in 1993 to First Officer on Concorde Barbara Harmer, who left school at 15 and became a trainee hairdresser. A few decades later, she became the first woman to pilot Concorde, after obtaining her type rating on the supersonic jet on March 25, 1993  Died 20 February 2011 age 57.
