For Sale is a BR.LMR Pay Check from PRESTON ENGINEERS number 677

These Pay Checks were issued to railway staff at engine sheds, stations and goods yards to place in a tin when wages were given out. This was the method used by the railway companies as proof the wages cash had been handed over and checked correct.

This thin brass paycheck is marked for PRESTON ENGINEERS. This is a square pressed brass pay check. The front has been cleaned a long time ago. When Preston shed closed due to a fire in 1961 the engineers were located to Lostock Hall shed. When this closed the department was relocated to Preston Station. 
 
 The pay check originates from the The 1920s and was in use by LMS employees and later British Railways.. Condition is very good for the age of the item with ingrained black in the lettering. The back is blank
 
Postage for this one has been set at Letter 2nd class and will include compensated insurance in relation to the final selling value.
Care will be taken with packing to unsure the pay check cannot be felt as a coin from the outside of the envelope.
