Offered at auction, a very fine 1840s era Antique Microscope Slide "Fossil Infusoria ~ Dolgelly - North Wales" with Diamond Inscribed details, by Master Slide Maker C.M. Topping, London. Like several other of the earliest commercial slide makers (Darker, Norman) his diamond point labeled slides were made for a period of years in the 1840s concurrently with his early papered slides, usually for purchase by "Gentleman" collectors. This is one of his early diatom mounts.
All auction images were taken from the actual slides using various
methods and techniques appropriate to the specimen. These include Brightfield,
Darkfield, Oblique, Crossed Polarizing Filters (Polariscope) with and without
Selenites, Phase Contrast, DIC, etc.
