A Very Rare Scots Guards Officer’s Frock Coat.

Dated June 1974.


Has major’s crowns on epaulettes.



Has incorrect aiguillettes which a previous owner has likely added.



This Frock Coat has been worn by multiple officers, and was last worn by a major who was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and the General Service Medal with a Mention in Despatches.



Named to Major General Sir Iain Mackay-Dick KCVO, MBE, DL.


Sir Iain’s name has been crossed out but the name is still legible.



Worn by Sir Iain when he was a lieutenant-colonel and Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards from April 1984.


He had previously served as Second-in-Command of the Battalion including during its service in the Falklands War in 1982.


Sir Iain Mackay-Dick served as Major General Commanding the Household Division and General Officer Commanding London District from 1994 to 1997.

Sir Iain is the son of Brigadier John Mackay-Dick OBE and the former Margaret Edith Forty. He was educated at St Edmund’s School, Hindhead, and Sherborne School, Dorset.


On 30th July 1965, Sir Iain was commissioned into the Scots Guards as a second-lieutenant, from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Appointed Honorary Colonel 256 (City of London) Field Hospital Royal Army Medical Corps (Volunteers). Dec. 2000–Feb. 2007.


Commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London, 31st March 2011.
