This leather limited premium edition book from the Franklin Mint is in NEAR PERFECT condition with no markings inside or out and no attached bookplates. There are no imperfections of any significance. In the text block pictures, you may notice a slight waviness. This is simply because it had been humid for the past few days in my area before I took the pictures. This is completely normal, and the text block will straighten out to regular again on its own once the humidity level goes back down. But I'm sure whoever is reading this is a collector and already knows this!

This premium offering from the Franklin Library is superior to the standard Easton Press editions in materials and craftsmanship. While visual presentation and illustrations are a matter of preference, I would argue that the Franklin Library’s here is also preferable with its rustic, highly-textured, tawny leather binding; it's simply more suited to the literature with a more appropriate substantiality in the hands, like something found perfectly preserved in the stern of an old ship run aground and abandoned long ago...

Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published on 25 April 1719. The first edition credited the work's protagonist Robinson Crusoe as its author, leading many readers to believe he was a real person and the book a travelogue of true incidents. Epistolary, confessional, and didactic in form, the book is presented as an autobiography of the title character (whose birth name is Robinson Kreutznaer) – a castaway who spends 28 years on a remote tropical desert island near the coasts of Venezuela and Trinidad, roughly resembling Tobago, encountering cannibals, captives, and mutineers. Despite its simple narrative style, Robinson Crusoe was well received in the literary world and is often credited as marking the beginning of realistic fiction as a literary genre. It is generally seen as a contender for the first English novel.
