Looking Through the Looking Glass (1946) Random House Special Edition.

This is a remarkable copy of what is (perhaps) the great children's story of all-time. This special edition, published in 1946, has some wonderful illustrations by John Tenniel. The vivid colors (brought to life by Fritz Kedel) have endured despite the passage of time and they are still as beautiful today as when they were printed.

Regrettably there does appear to be a water mark or stain - see pictures - on the front cover. There is also what appears to be ink on the top of the book from an unknown source (see picture).

Do they spoil the book? No. If, like me, you enjoy curating a small collection of vintage books because you value preserving our literary heritage, then it won't bother you much. The illustrations are worth the price of admission, and your kids won't mind these noted blemishes. Besides, I've priced this copy accordingly to offset these minor issues.

Conveniently neither of these issues will prevent the book from looking nice in your bookshelf... a detail.

If you have any questions then let me know.

Cheers.
