A rare and early example of Robert Allison annular brooch made from silver and circular in form as is customary.
Celtic knot decorations and the brooch has a pin fastening and the pin is firm and strong.
Fully hallmarked for Glasgow assay and with a date letter for 1949.

A really lovely brooch and a piece of Scottish silver making.

Robert Allison was a silversmith originally from Glasgow but learnt his trade in Birmingham before returning to Scotland to make Scottish jewellery and other Celtic related items. He first registered his hallmark in Glasgow in the 1940s and was very much inspired by Alexander Richie's iconic silver jewellery. He was later joined in the business by his son James and the company grew and traded as Robert Allison & Son and also added Edinburgh hallmark in 1954.  The company ceased trading in 1982.
