I could not get it to work. Maybe you can or maybe you can use for parts.
I've taken images of the battery compartment so you can see there is some corrosion. Not sure if this were to get cleaned up, it may work.
I've included images of the area where the cassette tape fits and it looks pretty clean to me. But I am no expert.
