An extremely rare cast iron empire period candlestick.
Made of cast iron with a possibly later gilding by the Royal Prussian Iron Foundry in Berlin around 1815 after the design of Karl Friedrich Schinkel ( 1781-1841) 
An egyptian female figure holding a palm tree sconce on her head,standing on and ornate round base. 
This model was cast in Sayn and Gleiwitz as well and was part of the repertoire of the Berlin RPIF.
This candlestick also appear in the Sayner Hütte brochure in the early 1830s and are described there under no. 15 as “mummy”
Very beautiful and detailed casting.

Condition: In very good antique condition. Original blackened surface with a possibly later gilding. One prong of the “palm crown” broken off (see photo). Isolated wax remnants inside sconce. Scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and usage. Screw bolt on bottom of the base is a later replacement. Item has been treated with Renaissance Wax which has been used on artifacts in various museums (including the British Museum) across the world.

UK POSTAGE: It is a requirement of ebay's terms & conditions that I send all items tracked. This will usually be via Royal mail 2nd class 'signed for'.
 Ebay now takes around 11% of seller's postage cost. I do not make any money out of postage so please appreciate how much of your payment goes to ebay and how much to the seller.
If I find I can send an item more cheaply than I have quoted (e.g as a small parcel rather than medium) I will refund the difference.
