This is the Coin pattern made by the Fostoria Glass Co.
beginning in 1958. In 1965 the color olive green was introduced. This piece is
the high-footed compote. The coins have a patriotic theme and alternate between
a torch and star and an eagle with olive branch and arrows. The eagle coin
includes the year 1887, which commemorates the date Fostoria was founded. Only
the first quality pieces had frosted coins. This is high quality glass from one
of the most famous of the elegant glass manufacturers. The Fostoria Glass
Company was eventually bought out by the Lancaster Colony Glass Co., which has
been producing coin glass. The reproductions by Lancaster do not have frosted
coins.
